Dear Editor,
Last week, the seniors of Gilpin County were treated like royalty. The Ameristar Casino was the host for a wonderful holiday feast. The food was terrific, the desserts tasty, the staff cheerful and attentive. The vibe was welcoming and relaxed. There were many helpful servers scurrying around with coffee and tea or another serving of dessert. Then they gave us "take home" portions for later.
It was so very thoughtful of the Ameristar administration and staff. It also gave us seniors a chance to visit with old friends. So many of us are isolated in our houses, up some dirt road somewhere, and out of contact with the rest of the world. The Ameristar gave us the opportunity to renew some of those lost connections in a cheerful atmosphere.
It should be pointed out that the Ameristar also reserved space for displaced locals when the fires sprouted up last spring. And they also donated space for the Covid vaccination program when that was needed.
Ameristar has shown us how a large corporation can use its resources for the good of the community.
Thank you, Ameristar, for your generosity and good will.
Sincerely,
Bill Thibedeau
Gilpin County
