Current owners of Decent Bagel, Audrey Gebhardt, Carl Fritschel, and Mike Gebhardt, are excited to announce their newest addition. With a great need for juices and healthier food, Audrey Gebhardt had a vision of a new delicious, cozy place to bring to town.
Sweet Sue’s, a modern mercantile, is a juice and smoothie bar located at 35 E 1st Street in Nederland, just down the street from Decent Bagel. It opened Friday, November 11. It will be open weekends from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The crew at Sweet Sue’s wanted another spot catered to people who have dietary restrictions. Their goal is to have people feel that their food needs are never a burden.
It will be a perfect place to grab a fresh pressed juice or spun-to-order smoothie or a cozy vegan chai. Pick up a gorgeous candle or cute birthday card or even a bottle of fancy maple syrup!
Sweet Sue’s is a multi-concept modern mercantile that will be serving fresh press juice, smoothies to order, bone broth, vegan soups, and salads. Once it warms up, they have even been exploring the idea of serving vegan ice cream. Due to takeout in town being limited, they will also have the option of take and make meals available.
With being a catering company first, Sweet Sue’s also has the space to cater big events from anywhere in the Peak to Peak area. On top of all of these great ideas being implemented into this space, there will also be small amounts of food imports and even retail available for gifting.
When Audrey Gebhardt thinks about this new shop they are opening, her mind goes to the little shop around the corner from You’ve Got Mail. “I want it to feel enchanting, not just in a storybook sense but in the sense that you are charmed from the moment you step in the door.”
She strives for comfort and magic to be implemented in the new space. Sweet Sue’s wants you to feel like you’re at home and safe and loved and that someone cared about every little detail for you, the way people felt when in the presence of Sue, Audrey’s mother.
They want you to order a Chardonnay with ice on the side and not even be embarrassed about it. They want you to order French onion soup just because you like the cheese on top. They want you to feel like every little thing was placed there, just for you. With this shop, Gebhardt wants YOU and the space to feel like you’re walking into a fairytale, charmed by its magic.
The crew is happy to be opening another spot for everyone to come and enjoy. With this lovely new addition, they are excited to be growing and are ready to sprinkle some more of their magic.
