The Timberline Volunteer Firefighter Foundation has officially announced its formation on June 1, 2021.

It is the mission of the TVF Foundation to support and invest in the Timberline Volunteer Firefighter Family, to enhance their well-being and honor their service.

There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer! There is nothing stronger than the support of first responder families.

TFPD volunteers respond to emergency calls 24/7, 365 days a year. There are no set hours in terms of responding to 911 tones. Emergencies do not recognize holidays, meal times, or convenient hours during the 24 hour day.

Each firefighter has participated in hundreds if not thousands of hours of training, studying, and testing to become a member of the department. They continue to perform required truck and equipment checks. Each certification that is earned has required continuing education. Times on scene during each call, (structure fires, wildland fires, motor vehicle accidents, etc.) can extend to hours. They occasionally rescue a cat from a tree!

Behind the scenes are the family members of each and every volunteer firefighter.

They are awakened by late evening calls, they are interrupted by tones at dinner, and they have experienced the need for the volunteer firefighter to respond during family holidays, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. The families support each and every firefighter in their absence from the home. They keep the dinners warm, and take care of everything while the firefighters are serving the community.

The TVF Foundation will focus on the to provide support to the families of the volunteer firefighters.

During the past couple of years, serious issues have arisen within the department. For example, deaths have occurred to both firefighters, as well as their spouses, along with numerous medical and health issues.

After months of discussions, an idea of the TVF Foundation took shape. A non profit was formed, application for a 501 (c) (3) is underway, and fund raising has begun.

Discussions are also in the process of developing a scholarship program with grants toward college education, as well as summer scholarships, for sports, music, theatre, for the Timberline “kids.” We are working on ideas to promote incentives to help recruit new members to the department.

Inquiries regarding the Foundation’s purpose, function, or activities may be directed toward any one of the board members at TimberlineVFF@gmail.com.
