Dear Editor,
I am writing to support Susan Berumen as our Gilpin County Commissioner for District 2. Susan is a long-time leader in our community with a background in finance and community service. Always working with our other two commissioners, she has kept our county budget balanced and in check with planned maintenance programs, no long-term debt, no current sales tax, and investment in county employees.
Susan represents our county at statewide meetings and has continued our vital partnerships with neighboring counties.
Affordable childcare in our country and locally is an on-going problem. Susan has helped with the creation of the Gilpin Mountain Kids Early Learning Center. We still need more financial support from the state and federal governments to make sure all children needing daycare will have it.
Commissioner Berumen is a pragmatist. She understands how important it is to protect the county’s water rights in this new era of climate change. She knows how to get the job of governing the county done and is not flashy with her words or accusations as we’ve seen from her opponent.
Susan Berumen will always work for our beloved county and is always available via emails, phone calls and in person. Please join me in giving her your support. You won’t regret it.
Sincerely,
Linda Isenhart
