NEDERLAND - Brent Bishop uses acrylics to paint what he calls “minimalist surreal contemporary landscape paintings with a neoclassical twist.” In order to share more of his haunting work with the public, he also offers Giclée prints in his Nederland studio, Bishop Fine Art.
Bishop explains that as a child he was captivated by new scenes and landscapes. This led to him consistently finding himself fascinated by “the endless elegance this world has to offer,” as he puts it.
Now, he transforms this fascination into explorations of familiar landscapes combined with imagination. He explains, “Scenes that I have experienced take on new forms as they grow on the canvas through a mix of precise details and gestural brushstrokes.” He notes that he plans his compositions loosely, allowing the work to grow intuitively into an original magical aesthetic.
Ultimately, his magical landscapes exhibit contemporary surreal and neoclassical forms, drawing in the observer.
You will find Bishop’s dreamlike work at Bishop Fine Art, 158 E 1st Street in Nederland, Colorado. Check it out at www.brentcollinbishop.com or on his instagram, instagram.com/brentcollinbishop.
