The third graders at Nederland Elementary School (NES) are the first students to participate in the SHRED Mountain Biking program. The program’s goal this year is to get all third through fifth grade students out on a mountain bike with certified Single-track Mountain Bike Association (SMBA) coaches, regardless of ability or previous biking experience.
Third grader Dominick, who was part of the beginner group, said, “This is awesome!” Not only did Dominick and the other beginners get to use brand new bikes provided by Peak to Peak Endurance, but he also had a very patient instructor who taught them skills all day. There was gentle encouragement to always keep trying.
NES and its partners in this program want kids to get outside and get moving!
