GILPIN COUNTY – Since the arrival of girls’ soccer at Gilpin High School in 2023, the team has gone from being legitimate to respectable to one of the top teams in their league this year. A big reason for their upward trajectory has been the play of senior forward Jiselle Osteboe.
As a sophomore, Osteboe led the team with five goals scored. In her junior season she found the net 15 times. In 2025, she eclipsed that mark at a match on April 17 against Clear Creek when she poured in five goals—a Gilpin record for a game and personal best.
Osteboe would finish the season with an unbelievable 28 goals scored. Some of Osteboe’s achievements thus far during her 3-year high school soccer career include six matches with three or more goals, a hat trick (3 goals) registered in merely three minutes during her junior season, and four goals this season against Belleview Christian. She now has 48 goals to her credit.
According to associate coach Joe Wuchter, “Jiselle is a special talent who is extremely humble and makes her teammates better. She is always looking for ways to improve her game during the year. Jiselle knows how to put the work in and the numbers speak for themself.”
Of course, no matter how good they are, one player does not make a team. Elise Vincent and Adele Fisher led the Eagles in assists this season. Vincent also set a team record with 32 shots on goal. Goalkeepers Jadie DiMauro and Faith Ramsey and a staunch defense shut out their opponents seven times this year while Makenzie Marr set a team record with 73 steals.
Finishing the regular season with a 10-3-2 record, the Eagles now move on to the 2A regional tournament. Because of snow, they are rescheduled to take on Fountain Valley Thursday, May 8, at 5 p.m.
