Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County. In the past week, the Gilpin High School volleyball team entered the league playoffs and fought to take third place, but were defeated in their third game.
The first game of the week was a home game win against Denver Waldorf on Tuesday, October 27. The Eagles won the match in three games, 25-17, 26-24 and 25-16.
That win brought them to the second round match, against Community Christian and a four-game loss, 13-25, 22-25, 25-18 and 19-25.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Eagles traveled to Northglenn High School to play the Longmont Christian Warrior for the third place slot in the Class A, District 8 championship.
The Warriors, 8-15, won the match in four games, 23-25, 25-16, 25-14 and 25-20.
The Eagle ended the season with a 14-7 record.
