Sally Van Der Kamp

ALLENSPARK — The Old Gallery boasts numerous displays of local artists. One of them is Sally Van Der Kamp. She is one of 26 artists at the gallery. Her art medium is fused and stained glass.

Her work combines the timeless beauty of traditional stained glass with the rich color and texture of fused glass embellishments, creating pieces that are both vibrant and distinctive.

All of Van Der Kamp's designs are original. While many incorporate natural tree branches, no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

The branches are carefully wrapped in copper foil and soldered, adding an organic, sculptural element that deepens the connection between her work and the natural world. “I find inspiration primarily from the beauty and allure of nature, but also from the inherent character of the glass itself,” Van Der Kamp states.

Unlike traditional stained glass, her work involves larger pieces of glass that showcase the material's natural swirls and color variations. These organic patterns create a sense of movement, becoming an integral part of each design.

Van Der Kamp invites you to meet and speak with her during The Mountain-Ear’s Studio Tour on September 19 and 20.
