“Some Words for the Week”
Rain more than I’ve ever seen
up here in the high alpine dust
the roads now rivers
the crooked lawns and pastures
a glowing super color green
so much water falls
that the flowers still sleep
and the mushrooms
have not yet poked up
from under the needles
and sky reflecting puddled mud
and this week in the forecast
there are coming storms
the same number as the days
but oh my god
when the sun does return
I picture a bloom like no other
a May and June of water
a July and August
of living hills
and wildflowers
like spilling perfect paint
