Nederland Police Reports March, April 2020

On 3/29/20, Nederland Police took a report of an ongoing incident between a female and male who had been in a relationship since November of 2019. On March 27 and 29, the male party reportedly went to the female’s residence and was denied entry both days. Sometime between March 29 and April 1, the male party decided it was a good idea to bring his property to the female’s residence and leave it there, allegedly so the female party would see it and know it was him. Having discovered the evidence of the male party on April 1 as well as evidence of the male party having stolen two gas cans from an outbuilding and placing evidence in the form of tools from said building in the middle of her driveway, the female party filed a report with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. The male party was contacted on April 2 by the Sheriff’s office and advised not to contact the female party or go to her residence. On the night of April 4, a neighbor reported hearing a loud truck at the female party’s residence around the midnight hour. The next day, some of the property left previously at the residence was gone, with additional things left in its place. A warrant was signed for the male party’s arrest as of April 10.

On 3/31/20, Nederland Police took a report of a broken window discovered at the Nederland Wastewater Treatment Plant. The case is closed due to lack of identifying evidence.

On 4/7/20, Nederland Police followed up on a phoned-in complaint regarding an abandoned vehicle near 980 Highway 72. Calling Big Toe Towing to impound the 1991 Subaru wagon that had been buried in snow for a couple of months, much contributing to the exasperation of the caller reporting it in early March, the action was taken after Nederland Police cleared and tagged it on March 10, 2020.  Since no one had come forward to claim or move the vehicle in all that time, yet the license plates had been removed and it was in poor condition (spray painted primer black, cracked windshield and rusted wheel wells) in addition to being left full of trash and junk tires (all obvious signs the car had been abandoned by its owner), letters were sent out to the owner advising of the impound.

On 4/08/2020, Nederland Police responded to the area of Ridgeview Road to investigate a report of a trespass and theft from a motor vehicle. The area was searched numerous times, with no suspect located at that time. A possible suspect was later located by Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Deputies; when presented to the victim, it was reportedly not the suspect.

On 4/11/20, Nederland Police took a report of a burglary, criminal mischief and theft reportedly occurring on E Pine Street. The reporting party stated that either she, her daughter or her roommate were at the residence from March 27, 20, to April 10, 20, during which time they had found beer cans around a wood pile and wood which had been laying down had been propped up to lean against the house. A secondary door which leads onto the deck appeared to have been forced open causing damage to the door frame. There were food items tampered with inside the residence, which the victim cleaned and disposed of prior to making a report.

On 4/19/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated a civil complaint that resulted in the disclosure of possible child abuse or neglect occurring in the Town of Nederland, Colorado.

On 4/22/20, a Nederland Police officer took a cold reported theft of a tire from the previous day. The victim reported his spare tire was secured under his truck while at the RTD Park and Ride. He returned from work and saw the cable dangling down and the tire gone. Estimated value is $300. There are no suspect leads at this time.

On 4/28/20, Nederland Police responded to a report of two transient suspects, one 28-year-old female and one 41-year-old male in accompaniment of a dog, with the female suspected of shoplifting at the B&F Market. Upon attempts to make contact with the two parties outside, they fled the scene and were chased by some nearby citizens. The reporting party took photos of the suspects running on Conger Street. Both suspects were located one hour later. The female suspect had a non-extraditable felony warrant out of Idaho for dangerous drugs, with the male suspect having two warrants; one out of Denver for contempt of court and the other out of Jefferson County for DUI / Habitual Traffic Offender. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic jail standards, neither party were able to be taken into custody and were released with warnings.

On 4/29/20, a Nederland officer was dispatched to a residence to investigate a report of a disturbance. The reporting party was identified as a female who had a fight with her boyfriend, further stating that the male party had alleged he would shoot the house as he was leaving their premises and was believed to be walking to S. Jefferson Street. The male party admitted he and the female party were fighting and that he had threatened to break his cat’s neck. The male party denied threatening to shoot the house up, saying the gun was still at the house where he lives with the female party. In speaking with the female party, her story corroborated that of the male party with one exception: though she claimed the male party told he would shoot the house up, she further stated she never believed he really would and she was not in fear. No probable cause existed for an arrest and both parties were warned and advised of the Colorado Domestic Violence laws.
