Mountain Woman writes about Mountain Critters

Anne Scarffe, Peak to Peak. For more than ten years in Boulder County, now nestled in Nederland, CO, lives a unique mountain woman named Deb D’Andrea, who helps animals and people from her Caribou Dog Ranch. She loves living in the Rocky Mountains, amongst nature and National Forest where her, her dogs and friends roam the wilderness. Sally and Bear, commonly referred to as her “Girls,” have a wonderful fulfilled life, content being with their human.

Deb has lived coast to coast, from California to Massachusetts, with international travel sprinkled in; but here in the Peak to Peak area is where she calls home, where she lives, works and plays. Her company 4TheLuvOfDogz began in 2007, and specializes in canine massage, agility, behavioral work, dog walking and sitting, along with K9 birthday cakes. Her company’s tag line is “Making Tails Wag Better,” something she has professionally done for over 13 years; or actually since she was born. If you have a question about your critter, young or old, Deb is happy to help.

Deb has been an active volunteer and planner with several local organizations and non-profits like Nedfest, Nederland Old Fashion Festival and Fireworks, and Nederland Thanksgiving Dinner to list a few; and has just joined PROSAB, a Nederland Town board focusing on Parks, Recreation & Open Space. November 2019, she purchased the Nederland based High Peaks Art Festival, celebrating its 20th Anniversary June 2020. Recently, Deb made the decision to postpone this year’s High Peaks Art Festival.

Along with animals and friends, Deb enjoys art in all its forms; sharing time with artists and supporting artist venues. But this is just a tiny glimpse into who she is, a woman of mystery to many as she does enjoy her private time. In the summertime you might be surprised to see her riding along the Peak to Peak, soaking in the sunshine and beauty wearing full leathers matching her CBR929 color scheme, a motorcycle that has also seen some fun track time.

She graduated from Towson University with a degree in International Marketing and started a video production company which led her into a world of cutting-edge technology. After several years in the tech world, working her way up the corporate ladder to Director of Engineering & Customer Support, Deb left it all behind and literally went to the dogs. Deb created her company 4TheLuvOfDogz. She attended the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, then Colorado State University becoming dually Certified as a Canine Massage Therapist, earning straight A’s.

Deb loves to write, starting to write in middle school and hasn’t stopped since. She writes a monthly Mountain Critters article for The Mountain-Ear, her articles always filled with helpful information, with animal stories from our readers or hot topics and seasonal tips; always writing with genuine love and caring for companions and their pets.
