LONGMONT - In what has become a habit this year, the Gilpin Eagles broke more school track records at the Three League Meet held at Mead High School in Longmont on May 2 and 3.

You’d have to go back 20 years to find an Eagle that ran the Boys 100m hurdles almost as fast as Landon Church did last Friday. Church’s time of 19.28 seconds beat Scott Headrick’s 2005 school record by .72 seconds.

Church was teamed with Connor Holloway, Ryan Marr, and Drew Starkey in the Boys 4x100m Relay. The fleet-of-foot group broke their own Gilpin record, set earlier in the year, by over a second. The new mark stands at 47.07 seconds.

A 2024 school record fell by the wayside in spectacular fashion in the Girls 4x400m Relay. Cara Holloway was joined by Adele Fisher, Jiselle Osteboe, and Faith Ramsey. Fisher, Osteboe, and Ramsey also play soccer and run track when meets don’t conflict with soccer matches. They had played three matches the previous three days and still had enough left in the tank on Saturday to help shave an astounding 6.76 seconds off the old mark. The new record is 4:37.62.

The Eagles wrap up their season on May 9 at the Joe Shields Invitational in Kremmling. Six days after that, Ryan Marr is a probable qualifier in the Boys 100m Dash at the state championships in Lakewood on May 15.
