Holiday Fair to highlight local artisans

The 10th Annual Pop-Up Holiday Fair is set to deliver locally made crafts, art, and baked goods just in time for the holiday shopping season. This year’s event offers the opportunity to find that perfect Christmas gift or stocking stuffer, as it fittingly will take place on the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday, November 24, at the Covered Wagon in Nederland.

Over twelve unique artists and artisans will have tables full of their handmade work, from James DeWalt and his breathtaking nature photography, to Mike Foster and his selection of tantalizing Burning Bridges hot sauces.

Evelyn Blodgett of Evi3lution. jewelry.design will be selling her custom Mala bead jewelry; Jake Kaiser of Ride-or-Dye will offer his tie-dye shirts and hoodies, as well as tapestries and bed sheets; and Max Rashbaum and Bri Lynn Rashbaum of Spinning Silica will be displaying their beautiful glass and ceramic pieces.

Local pastry chef Natalie Duplessy of Peace, Love and Cake will be serving up some tasty treats for attendees to enjoy while shopping. Duplessy will be taking early orders for special Christmas goodie baskets that will feature an assortment of cookies, cake pops, and “hot chocolate on a stick.”

Many other artists and crafters will be presenting their one-of-a-kind works, such as Mary Mead and Casey Pile, to name a few, as well the event creators and organizers themselves, Carrie Bladyka, who will be offering her “offensively warm” crocheted hats. Artist Heather Taylor-Lande will be selling her brilliantly colorful paintings.

The 10th Annual Pop-Up Holiday Fair will continue its tradition of celebrating local hobbyists, and those who dedicate their spare time to the need to create and share their crafts, on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 24, 2023, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Covered Wagon, 15 East 1st Street in Nederland.
