WESTMINSTER – On Wednesday. April 16, the Gilpin County Eagles set three new school records at the Norsemen Invitational in Westminster.
Ryan Marr ran a blazing 11.27 in the 100-meter dash to better Stephen King’s 2021 mark by almost half a second. With the eighth best time in 2A league this year, his chances of going to the state championships are good.
Marr teamed with Landon Church, Connor Holloway, and Drew Starkey to top their own school record that they set last year in the 4x100m Relay. The record now stands at 48.10 seconds.
The same quartet shaved .74 seconds off Gilpin’s old 4x200m Relay record set in 2021. Their time of 1:41.09 make them the fastest Eagles ever in that event.
Pleased with his team's performance, Head Coach Craig Ball noted that “We are having a great season, knocking down records and constantly improving. Our focus is now on the Mile High League Meet in Longmont on May 2 and 3, then the CHSAA Track and Field Championships on May 15 through 17 in Lakewood.”
