Gilpin County School hosted an academic awards banquet on May 24, 2023, at the school. The banquet began at 6:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner of barbecue meats, potato salad, cole slaw, salad and desserts, provided by the Booster Club.
After dinner, the awards ceremony took place in the auditorium. School Counselor Kim Cobb welcomed everyone to the ceremony. She said the Booster Club has been working tirelessly with banquets over the week.
Cobb said that without parents’ support, these students wouldn’t be here, and she congratulated the students for their work. This was the final event of the year for the school.
She and Ms. Vincent presented the Eagle Honor Roll for students with a 3.0 to 3.49 grade point average, the Principal’s Honor Roll for 3.50 to 3.99 grade point average, and the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for 4.0.
Mr. Newberg and Ms. Meyers presented the sixth grade class awards followed by Ms. Fuller and Ms. Stephens with the seventh grade awards. Ms. Sliker and Ms. Gillette presented the eighth-grade awards following the eighth-grade graduation.
Mr. Chamberlain and Ms. Newman presented the freshman class awards. Ms. Blake and Ms. Newman presented the sophomore class awards, and Mr. Rouse and Mr. Shuessler presented the junior class awards.
Vincent thanked everyone for coming, and it was a great year.
