My name is Eliza DuBose and I was born and raised just outside of Rollinsville, Colorado. I started writing for The Mountain-Ear in the summer of 2022 as an intern and I’m now reporting on the Gilpin County School Board virtually from Berlin, Germany, where I’m spending the year abroad.
I’ve wanted to be a journalist since I was thirteen so writing for The Mountain-Ear feels like the fulfillment of a childhood dream. I’ve enjoyed the opportunities to explore my hometown that this position has offered me. I hope to offer the people of Gilpin County a thorough view of their school board and the goings on at the school.
When I’m not in Berlin, I’m earning a degree in Foreign Language and Communication Media (which essentially boils down to a dual degree in Journalism and German) at American University in Washington D.C. Being a student usually takes up most of my time, but when I do have free time I’m probably reading or exploring wherever I am (usually with some sort of coffee beverage in hand).
