Eagle boys drop two

Last Tuesday, the Gilpin High School boys' basketball team hosted the Cornerstone Christian Bulldogs and although they put up a good fight, the Eagles went down 54-71. They now have a 5-9 record.

The Eagles were down by nine at the end of the first period and made a comeback two point lead in the second period, but were outplayed the rest of the game. Cornerstone came into the game with a 5-7 record.

Chase Boulter had a great game, with 18 points and 12 rebounds. He sunk 9 field goals, made six assists, three steals and two blocks to round out his stats.

On Friday, January 31, the Eagles traveled to Belleview Christian where the Bruins won 55-38.

On Saturday, February 1, Gilpin hosted the Vail Christian Saints who grabbed the game 75-39. It was a slam dunk for the Saints who are rated sixth in the state with a 10-2 record.

The Gilpin High School Eagles will head north on Friday to play a rivalry match with the Nederland High School Panthers who are struggling to increase their 2-10 record. It should be an exciting, loud, fan-driven game.
