Omayra Acevedo, Peak to Peak. The hills are alive, the sun is still shining and the smell of fresh mountain air is at its best. There’s still some time to get out and enjoy the beautiful Colorado Autumn Season. With so many options in our colorful state, any vacation, long or short, can feel as big as the Rockies themselves!

About three hours from Denver, you come into the town of Steamboat Springs. A town considered to be off the beaten path but still within reach, even by air. One of the town’s most popular activities is their helicopter tours. They specialize in tours across the entire state of Colorado. Looking for something with a slower pace? How about a hot air balloon tour? The sights from this point of view are like no other. Just don’t forget to book your appointment ahead of time.
Not a fan of heights? There’s plenty more to do in Steamboat. Do you like nature? Animals? How about Cowboys? Yeah, I like them too. You can tour Steamboat Springs the same way cowboys did when they first settled in the Yampa Valley…on horseback. There are plenty of ranches that offer rides as long or as short as you would like. All levels are welcomed. Great way to experience the majesty of the Colorado outdoors for couples, friends or family.
Would you rather do something that doesn’t require an appointment or being around too many people? As always, I’m going to suggest you get up early and go for a hike, a soak in the Strawberry Park Hot Springs or maybe get reconnected with nature and go camping. If my memory serves me right, there are about 80 hiking trails, two hot springs and a plethora of camping options to choose from.
Sometimes, when I travel somewhere I prefer to experience the town the way the locals do. I find myself partaking in the town’s live music scene, farmers market and annual events. Steamboat has an endless number of events throughout the year. Some that take place during Autumn are: Art Walks, Restaurant Week, History Happy Hour, Sports and Music Festival, the Halloween Parade and more.
There’s a ton to do in this town off the beaten path such as zip lining, golfing, shopping, eating, brewery tours, hiking, spas, gondola rides, scenic drives, photography opportunities, wildlife potting and even museums. Go. You’ll see firsthand why it’s so easy to fall in love with Steamboat Springs.
