All proceeds from book and bake sales help to pay for programs at the library. Meet at Gilpin County Public Library, located at 15135 Highway 119 in Black Hawk, at 6 p.m.
Friday, January 17
Children’s Storytime: Stories! Song! Movement! Music! Play! Every Friday morning from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. we hold storytimes for ages 0 to 4 years old. From 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., we read books, sing songs, learn some ASL, and get the wiggles out! From 10:45 to 11:30 a.m., we have free play and get to know other kids, parents and caregivers. Meet at the Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72.
Saturday, January 18
Skywatchers: Astronomy and telescope group. Everyone is welcome. Meet at Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Hall, located at 31528 Highway 119, from 7 to 9 p.m.
25 Year Retrospective Art Exhibit: Celebrate the creativity of past and present students and staff of Gilpin County School District. A reception will be held January 18 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 117 Eureka Street, Central City. The gallery will be available for viewing Thursday through Sunday 11 to 4 p.m. until February 23.

Stuffy Hospital: Sick stuffy? Poorly plush? Stuffy not so stuffed? Kids can come and get simple fixes for their stuffies; repair holes, fix eyes, add stuffing, etc., at this repair and learn event. Volunteers will be on hand to help stitch and fix! Just bring your special plushie! Your stuffy will receive a patient chart, and we’ll have all the “tools” they need to take temperatures, blood pressure, heart-rate and more! Meet at the Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Nederland Writers: Bring something you are working on to share and get feedback on or join the group to listen in and hone your skills. Area writers gather at Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72 every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, visit https://nederland.libcal.com.
The Mountain Meditation Circle: A free and open mindfulness meditation practice and discussion group for experienced meditators meeting at the Gilpin County Public Library every Monday at 6 p.m. If you are interested in attending the group, please schedule a brief introductory phone call before your first meeting by contacting Alisa Witt at wittalisa@gmail.com, or call 847-890-5262 to provide a good time to schedule the introductory call. If you have never meditated before or would like instruction and direct support to develop your practice, Alisa can put you on a waiting list and when a minimum of five people have joined the list, she will announce the free class will begin in 2-3 weeks.
Meditation and Mindfulness: Practice meditation, explore readings, and join discussions in this free program at Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72. Children’s Storytime: Join us every Wednesday morning for our Children’s Storytime. Most of our children range from 0 to 5 years of age but all children are welcome. Enjoy stories, fingerplays, rhymes, and more. A themed craft will follow every storytime. Oscar Movie Preview “Conclave”: Join us for popcorn and a movie as we watch “Conclave.” Rated PG, 2 hours. Starts at 5 p.m. at the Gilpin County Public Library located at 15135 Highway 119 in Black Hawk.
Beginning Tuesday, January 28 and Thursday, January 30
STEAM Club: Build imagination, creative thinking, and have fun! Kids are invited to join the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Club at the Nederland Community Library. There will be a shuttle directly from the elementary school to the library. Pickup is promptly at 5 p.m. We will meet in the community room. This is a no-cost program, but donations for snacks or healthy, individual snack donations are always appreciated to help cover some of our costs. Third grade through fifth grade meets every Tuesday till March 11 and kindergarten through second grade meets every Thursday till March 13.
