After an Executive Session, Mayor Jeremy Fey called the Central City Council meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. In attendance were Mayor Jeremy Fey, Mayor Protem Kara Tinucci, Alderman Jeff Aiken, Alderman Marcia Enloe, and Alderman Todd Williams.
Staff present included City Manager Daniel R. Miera, City Clerk Reba Bechtel, and City Attorney Marcus McCaskin. Highlights included a discussion on the OHV Pilot Program and approval of the Consent Agenda.
The Consent Agenda: Regular Bill lists through January 30; and City Council minutes: January 16, 2024
Tinucci moved to approve the Consent Agenda, Aiken seconded, and all were in favor.
The agenda contained no other items and the floor was opened to public comment.
During public comment, a resident of Central City, Zane Plsek, asked the board about an update on the OHV Pilot Program.
No other comments were made.
Fey asked for any Council Comments. After no other council members commented, Fey responded to the question of the OHV Pilot Program.
“As many know, there was a vote taken a few months ago to move forward with the OHV program. There was a 3-2 vote. We have agreed to table the issue for now and not even move forward with the Pilot Program,” Fey declared.
Fey continued to share that, since recently forming a DDA and a URA, that the City would like to prioritize economic development; and the move is not made as a conciliatory measure in response to backlash from the community over the topic.
Proponents of the OHV Program sat in silence in the audience, as sighs of relief were heard through the room.
The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
After the meeting, Plsek reported being pleased with the result, after having attended many meetings and presenting concerns.
He shared, “We need responsible development. We need infrastructure. We’ve got these new casinos opening, where’s everybody going to park?”
