COAL CREEK CANYON — For Miles and Tèa Wilkins, two things stand out the most strongly about the Colorado Front Range: its beauty and its durability. These community residents bring those qualities into their locally owned family enterprise, Sawtooth Construction.
In the close-knit communities of the mountains, the two wanted to start a business that prioritized connection with clients in detailed remodeling and building projects. Sawtooth, which primarily serves Boulder, Jefferson, and Gilpin Counties, brings 25 years of construction experience into those projects.
“We saw a need for a contractor who combined high-end craftsmanship with the transparency and ‘handshake’ integrity of a local neighbor,” Sawtooth writes. “We launched Sawtooth to bring a more personalized, detail-oriented approach to home building and remodeling.”
The company specializes in home builds, kitchen and bathroom remodels, and outdoor living spaces such as custom-built decks. They aim to create and build final products that last, mapping the durability they love about the Colorado mountains.
They’ve also prioritized expanding their reach through word-of-mouth, aiming to stay accessible and transparent about timelines and budgets throughout the entire project.
“To us, growth isn’t about how many projects we can stack up,” writes Sawtooth, “but about expanding our team of skilled tradespeople so we can maintain our high standards while taking on more of the community’s ambitious custom projects.”
The current team of eight employees focuses on building in the communities they feel closest to, essentially allowing them to work in their own backyard. They aim to incorporate sustainable and energy-efficient building practices into their projects in order to expand their durability beyond the structural level.
“Every home in the foothills has its own unique terrain or structural quirks,” Sawtooth writes. “Finding a creative, beautiful solution that makes a client’s home more functional and enjoyable is what keeps us coming back to the job site every morning.”
