Barbara Lawlor, Boulder County. Black ice and gravel. This is the time of year when Boulder Canyon becomes an alternating ribbon of shadow and sun which can be a dangerous combination. Driving on dry pavement can suddenly become slipping on the black ice of the shadows. Last weekend, a south bound driver lost control and spun back to crash into a van. One man was injured and transported to the hospital by AMR ambulance.
