Naomi Swift, Peak to Peak. Xcel Energy has completed the installation of 15 miles of new natural gas line in Boulder County, Gilpin County and the City of Black Hawk for the Tungsten to Bobtail Natural Gas Project. Testing procedures and minor restoration activities will continue through 2020.
Some construction areas will be temporarily restored, and crews will return in spring 2021 to complete permanent restoration, weather permitting. Xcel will coordinate with property owners to complete outstanding permanent restoration activities.
Xcel recognizes that this project has been ongoing since 2019 and impacted many stakeholders near the project route. They thank the community for their patience and understanding during construction of this vital natural gas project. This project has been completed as part of our commitment to system reinforcement and allows us to continue to provide the safe, reliable natural gas that serves homes and businesses in your community.
Work on the aboveground facilities near Haul Road (County Road 132-W) and Magnolia Drive will continue in November 2020. While we work in this area, the roadside parking area on Haul Road near Highway 119 will be closed. Visitors should use alternative parking options when visiting this trailhead. To reach the main West Magnolia Trailhead parking area, continue one mile west of Highway 119 on Haul Road and turn south through the second Forest Service gate
.
Please note that project schedules are subject to change.
