Studio Tour
Okay, enough self-congratulations. Let’s talk about our upcoming Studio Tour. The Tour is September 20 and 21 and it runs from Allenspark to Central City, with all of the communities in between.
This year we have over 15 studios, featuring dozens of artists. As well as several home-based studios, a handful of local stores (featuring artists), as well as a few additional sponsors.
The map is being completed, and the data is being finalized for the back of the map. These will be inserted into The Mountain-Ear in a couple of weeks. They’ll also be distributed across the Peak to Peak to each participating studio or artist.
This is our third year organizing the tour and we are super excited with the support we have received.
Next step is phone calls to all participants to find out who needs road and directional signs. Then to wrap up anything special that will be happening at any of the locations.
Read more profiles every week between now and September 18. Each week we will have features related to the Studio Tour.
National Angel Day
Another topic I want to touch on is National Angel Day, a day celebrated annually on August 22. The day was established to encourage acts of kindness and compassion toward others.
National Be An Angel Day is a day devoted to performing random acts of kindness. It’s a day we spend helping others, inspired by the selfless acts of angels.
This holiday was created in 1993 by the Reverend Jayne Howard Feldman to inspire more people to mirror the empathetic nature of angels.
Some suggestions for “being an angel”:
Random acts of kindness: Pay for someone's coffee, hold the door open for a stranger, or donate to a charity. Give a stranger a compliment. Smile when you meet someone on the street. Hug someone who looks sad.
Support those in need: Offer help to someone who is struggling, volunteer time at a local service organization, or simply really listen to someone – these are all ways to be an angel.
Spread kindness: A smile, a kind word, or a thoughtful gesture can brighten someone's day.
National Be An Angel Day urges people to look for ways to be a positive influence in the lives of others, modeling your behavior on the caring and helpful nature of angels.
Send us a list of your angels, to be included in a follow-up article. It can be a name, a description, a kindness you witnessed, or a way you supported someone in need of comfort. Email your angels to frontdesk@themountainear.com for inclusion in an upcoming edition!
