Dear Editor,
Lisa Widdekind, Candidate for Boulder County Commissioner, District 3 has withdrawn from the race. She issued this statement:
I have decided to withdraw from the race for Boulder County Commissioner. I believe that my candidacy has elevated consideration of the climate, housing, equity, and labor issues that inspired me to run. I want the flexibility to be able to continue my labor and climate activism unhindered. Over the course of my campaign, I have arrived at the conclusion that I will be able to make a stronger contribution in those roles.
I am endorsing Ashley Stolzmann for the seat. I have admired her commitment to climate as demonstrated by her steadfastness on a net zero building code for Louisville. We have discussed the need to improve the work environment for Boulder County employees and I feel confident that she will work hard to better the situation there.
I want to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. I appreciate you all immensely. I hope you will all stay involved in the fight for a better Boulder County.
Lisa Widdekind
