Coal Creek Canyon’s annual Independence Day celebration will bring attention to fire safety this year. Activities for the themed “Fire-Wise 4th of July” will kick off at 7 a.m., with a pancake breakfast at the CCCIA Hall. The parade begins at 10 a.m., and a barbeque lunch is available starting at 11 a.m. The festivities will also include a DJ, craft booths and a flag ceremony, which starts at 11:15 am. The celebration will conclude at 2 p.m. Awards will be given to parade participants in various categories, including “Most Conducive to the Theme” and “Most Creative Entry.” All of the day’s events will be held at the CCCIA Hall, which is located at 31528 Highway 72 in Coal Creek Canyon. Black Hawk will once again be hosting its “Boom Town” Fourth of July celebration. Boasting the largest display of fireworks in Colorado, the show will begin at 9:30 p.m. and can be seen from anywhere in the town. Extra consideration should be taken for minors under the age of 21, as they aren’t permitted in the casinos. *Fireworks
Nederland’s annual parade will start at noon on the Fourth. Registration for parade participation is open to the public. Register at Guercio Field and line up by 11:30 a.m.. If you wish to have your pet march in the parade, it must be on a leash. Cars included in the parade must be licensed and insured. The parade will trail through East First Street around noon, and typically loops around at least twice, so don’t fret if you miss a costume on the first go-around. *No fireworks
The Golden Lion’s Club sponsors an all-day affair on the fourth, complete with live music, a raffle and arts and crafts for kids. In the evening, a fireworks display will be held. The festivities will be held at Lions Park in Golden, located at 1300 10th Street, Golden. Bands will play from noon until 9:15 p.m., activities for kids begin at noon, and raffle tickets and food are available for purchase starting at 11 a.m. Pack a picnic and enjoy the free fun! *Fireworks
Fourth of July activities will begin at 8 a.m. in Georgetown. A parade through the town, along 6th Street, will begin at 11 a.m., and will be followed by a picnic in town at noon. Music will be featured at a stage in town after the parade concludes. *No fireworks

Gold Hill Fire Department’s pancake breakfast runs from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tickets for children under 11 years old are $5, and $7 for adults. The parade will begin at noon. *No Fireworks
