Dear Editor,
Have you ever been to the Community Center to watch a movie at The Backdoor Theater? Have you played Pickleball, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer or Floor Hockey in the Gymnasium? Do you or your children Dance or do cardio classes in the Studio or participate in the Martial Arts offerings or work out at The Fitness Place? Have you attended Senior Lunch or Peak Life dinners?
Perhaps you have utilized the services of the Nederland Food Pantry, Clothing Closet, efaa, Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, come for a COVID test or vaccine?
Maybe you have shopped at the Mountain Forum for Peace Yard Sale. Are you an artist who has showed and/ or sold your work at Art at The Center?
Have you gathered with other residents of the Peak to Peak for Community Thanksgiving Dinner, attended the 9Health Fair, shopped or been a vendor at The Holiday Mountain Market?
Have you served on a Town Board or Commission or attended civic meetings, dropped off your ballot or voted in person at the Voter Polling Service Center?
Have you enjoyed food prepared in the commissary kitchen and sold locally at retail outlets and the Farmers Market?
Did you know the Community Center serves as the primary Red Cross Shelter for our area?
If so, then you know the value of the Nederland Community Center, a diverse, multi-use facility owned by the Town of Nederland for the purpose of serving community needs.
For many years, you have been paying .42 cents sales tax to pay off the bond on the 2005-2007 remodel of the Community Center. This debt will be paid off this year and we are asking you, the voters, for permission to continue to collect this sales tax to maintain and improve the Community Center for your use.
Please note that every time our out – of - town visitors eat or shop here, they are supporting this cause. Nothing new, just asking for your continued support of this amazing resource.
