Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my appreciation for the overwhelming support from our local organizations in favor of the YES vote in the special election coming up this July. The special election will ask Nederland voters to answer one question. Should TEENS, Inc. be allowed to operate a preschool on town-owned land located at 750 W. 5th St. in Ned. If the majority of voters say “YES” then, TEENS, Inc. will be able to move forward with its initiative to build a new center that will expand access to year-round early childhood education and care (ECEC) for mountain families.
The benefits of increased access to quality ECEC extend far beyond the immediate support it provides to families. It plays a crucial role in helping parents stay on the job, therefore contributing to the overall economic stability of our community. Moreover, it has a positive impact on property values, supports enrollment in our local schools, and fosters a thriving community for all residents, whether or not they have children.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the following organizations who have already rallied behind this cause and endorsed a YES vote on the special election ballot.
• Carousel of Happiness
• Emergency Family Assistance Association
• Mountain Coalition for Youth
• Nederland Area Seniors
• Nederland Elementary School PTA
• Nederland Food Pantry
• Nederland MS/HS PTA
• Peak to Peak Housing and Human Services Alliance
• Wild Bear Nature Center
Special election ballots will be sent by mail to registered voters within the Town of Nederland in early to mid July with a due date of July 30th. Please vote if you are registered and please consider voting YES if you support more access to early childhood education now to benefit our community, families, economy, and future.
Sincerely,
Stephen LeFaiver
TEENS, Inc. Executive Director
