Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my support of the reelection of Sandy Hollingsworth to the Gilpin County District 3 County Commissioner seat, and Jeff Aiken for election to the Gilpin County District 1 County Commissioner seat.
In an article written in the last Mountain-Ear Mr. Spellman demonized the word “might” that Commissioner Hollingsworth used in a meeting with CDOT. It is my belief that she used this word because she was thinking about a future in which there could be different leadership in Black Hawk and thus there might need to be different actions taken to support CDOT and the needs of the community.
The rail station is a proposed idea that has been around for a while. Good ideas are ones that are revisited and revised many times before they may come to reality. Looking into the future Gilpin County may be able to attract new industry and businesses if there was an affordable transportation option available to people.
As for Gilpin County's financial status it looks pretty good to me. The facts are out there. Do your own research and don't just believe the “facts” that the Republican candidates are using as a scare tactic.
It saddens me to know that some city leaders and others have taken their script straight from the MAGA playbook. However, I would like to applaud those who see behind the curtain of fear and hate, and respect the rule of law. It is this that gives me hope that in the near future we will be able to have constructive conversations that better the state of Gilpin County, the State of Colorado, and the United States of America.
Vote for Sandy Hollingsworth and Jeff Aiken. Vote for the future of ALL.
Respectfully,
Roxy Goss
