Joel Anderle - My goal as your Sheriff

It is important for the Sheriff’s office to work proactively with the residents of Gilpin County to identify and solve issues. Although Gilpin County is part of the First Judicial District along with Jefferson County, we maintain a unique and personable identity. As Sheriff, I would be accessible to the community and encourage clear communication between the Sheriff’s office and citizens. Additionally, I look forward to the opportunity of working with other government agencies on behalf of the Gilpin community to make our home a safer place to live, work, thrive and enjoy a quality of life we all strive for.

In my 30 years of service with the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office I have developed a comprehensive knowledge of the department’s operations. I have also developed good public relations with the citizens of the county.

This experience has given me a clear picture of what our community expects and deserves from the Sheriff’s office. I am dedicated to the Gilpin County community and am eager to continue to provide experienced, integrity driven service and protection and to develop the Sheriff’s office to meet the needs of our growing and evolving citizenry.

Increased community involvement.

Regular attendance at community meetings to improve quality of life through education and awareness.

Enforcement of dog ordinances.

Creative and advanced enforcement of loud and speeding motorcycles.

Firm enforcement of fire ban regulations.

Working with the commissioners in the development of a shooting range.

Working with residents on emergency preparedness planning.

Expansion of the Gilpin County Jail to accommodate the rising inmate population.

Streamline an effective budget with the needs of community foremost.

Thank you for taking the time to research this website. If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I will be more than happy to assist you. Thank you for your consideration in voting for me in the November 6th, 2018 election as your next Sheriff of Gilpin County.

Jake Adler for Undersheriff

As Sheriff, I will appoint Jake Adler as my Undersheriff. Jake is a career police officer with over 20 years experience and a well known name in surrounding municipalities and counties. Jake is a life long, generational Gilpin County resident and a father of two sons that attend the Gilpin County School. He is a former Police Chief for the Town of Nederland for 10 years where he made progressive changes to the police department and developed a positive partnership with the residents of Nederland and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. Jake is currently a police officer for the City of Black Hawk where he has first hand knowledge of the challenges facing the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office in the future with the continued growth of the gaming industry.

Jake has the experience to effectively oversee the administrative divisions and the daily operations of the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office as well as a dedication to the citizens of this community. I look forward to working with Jake as my Undersheriff as we serve the citizens of Gilpin County.
