Vision 2020 status Community Engagement Forum POSTPONED

Posted

Karen Gerrity, Nederland Town Administrator. The public will be invited to attend a Community Engagement Forum to share feedback regarding the current status of Vision 2020. The forum has been temporarily postponed and a new date will be announced by the town of Nederland. When rescheduled, the forum will take place at the Nederland Community Center.

Envision Nederland 2020 was a visioning process designed to create an overall planning and focusing vision for the Nederland community based on citizen priorities and input. Through community meetings on various topics, the Envision Nederland 2020 Committee gathered information and feedback from residents in the greater Nederland area. This information was used to inform nearly all major decisions for the community - planning and zoning, economic development, resource management, budget allocations, etc. The meetings were open to all and the input was desired and needed. More information can be found here: https://nederlandco.org/board-of-trustees/envision-nederland-2020/

While the Board of Trustees adopted Envision 2020, this is a document created by and for the entire community.

Please plan to join the conversation, when a new date is announced. Plan to meet with civic and community leaders to learn about and discuss successes, short-comings, and lessons learned that have taken place over the past ten years in efforts to realize the collective vision for the community.

Local facilitator, Garry Sanfacon, who participated in the process to create Vision 2020, will welcome attendees and provide a summary of community highlights over the past 10 years which will address where we are today. Then attendees will participate in an “open house” session where they can move from station to station to mingle with table facilitators and other attendees and provide feedback. The stations will include focus areas that address subject matters such as Social Services, the economy, government and arts, culture and education.

If you have any questions about the Forum, please contact me at kareng@nederlandco.org.
