Ela Mirowski, Nederland. Santa’s been popping up all over town and was recently sighted at Very Nice Brewing Company. Photos with Santa were complimented by the yearly cookie exchange and holiday music by the Brassaholics. This evening VNBC served up “You Serious Clark?!?” A holiday collaboration brewed at VNBC by the Nederland Brewer’s Association. Jeff and Susan Green’s genuine affection for the community always shines this time of year.
VNBC, Nederlands oldest and most respected brewery, opened its doors over 7 years ago. In true pub style, it is where locals hang out and catch up on town lore over Jeff’s latest tasty batches of fermented magic whilst listening to tunes by up and coming musicians. VNBC is famous not only for its great beer, but also for its yearly Chili Cook-off, which raises funds for the Nederland Fire Department. Over the years they have supported more than 20 charities with donations of over $22,000. (http://www.verynicebrewing.com/beer.html)
Charity isn’t the only way Jeff and Susan support the community. Artists exhibit their works at the brewery both on the walls and at booths during the holiday season. And since I am a fan of recycling and composting, it is heart warming to know Susan reuses brewery ingredients to make soaps and treats while donating the spent grain for making compost or feeding livestock. It’s great to know that when I support a local business, it supports us back. So next time you are looking for a place to quaff a delicious locally crafted beer, head on over to VNBC.
