Annie Thayer and Tracy Brewer,  Nederland.  Art at the Center will host its fall art show and opening reception on Thursday, October 22 from 5-7 pm. Please join us!

All artists are invited to submit up to six pieces of art on Friday, October 16 from 3-5 pm or on Saturday, October 17 from 10 am to noon.

The theme of this show is “Journeys.” A journey within, journeys to exciting new places, a journey with a new piece of artwork…each artist will interpret this in his/her own unique way.

We will also have an interactive demo of suede tape resist art by Zsuzsi Dalquist. Come create your own piece of art with Zsuzsi. All materials will be provided (donations for supplies gratefully accepted). Everyone can enjoy this art form, making something as complex or simple as you like. Parents may enjoy working on a piece with their children.

Luke Harrison will be our guest musician, singing and playing guitar.

Art at the Center (AATC) began in Fall 2009 with a desire to beautify the walls of the Nederland Community Center and to provide a venue for local artists to show their artwork.

Tracy Brewer and Diane Wohl were the founders of this event. This will be Tracy’s 17th reception. Annie Thayer joined the AATC committee sometime in 2011, and eventually joined Brewer as co-chair.

Thayer came up with the idea of having interactive demos for at least one reception each year, and there has been enthusiastic response to these. We’ve had clay sculpture, acrylic painting, silk painting, and photography, to name just a few.

Putting on the AATC shows has been a volunteer labor of love. We have enjoyed seeing all the good that has come from these events—artists growing, community members coming together, and the Community Center becoming a gallery where visitors stop by to enjoy beautiful art. We would love to see it continue, and are asking for someone from the community to step forward and take over coordinating AATC. If you are interested, please email yourartatthecenter@gmail.com.

Please join us for this fall’s reception. We hope it isn’t the last one!!
