Karen Gerrity, Nederland. Thank you to all the organizations, volunteers and town staff involved in the 2019 Town Clean Up Day held on Saturday, June 1. This year we had 120 drivers and vehicles in attendance which is a 30% increase over last year. Of those participating, 58% came to recycle only, which is an indication of the success of this program over the past several years. Many people said they’ve been able to cull their large waste items in the past and this year focused on recyclables. Big thanks to Nicki Dunn and the public works team for an improved traffic circulation route which kept things moving smoothly.

In 2013, Boulder County began their support of this program as a zero waste event and in 2017 Public Works took the town lead (previously coordinated by Town Hall) and this has resulted in a meaningful event that area residents and businesses look forward to every year. Some of the partners in this program include Center for Resource Conservation, Boulder County Transfer Station, Rocky Mountain Recycling, and IT Fresh. Special thanks to the Colorado Rangers for providing assistance with traffic flow.
