On January 11, 2024, Timberline Fire responded to a possible garage fire in the Golden Gate Park Estates neighborhood. Thanks to the quick thinking and fast action taken by the homeowner, the fire was primarily contained to the malfunctioning electrical equipment that likely caused the fire.
Timberline firefighters performed what is called an “overhaul,” looking for hidden fire and ensuring there is no hidden heat or embers that could reignite later. When doing an overhaul, the goal is to remove most of the burned material away from the fire until unburned cool material is found.
This fire shows the importance of properly functioning smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. If you haven’t tested your detectors lately, or can’t remember where you put that dusty fire extinguisher in the back of your kitchen cabinet, today is the day to find it!
