Timberline Fire recruits celebrated wrapping up roughly 256 hours of training to complete all three portions of their fire academy program. This included three State of Colorado written tests and two practical tests.
The class this year was a mix of Golden Gate Fire Protection District and Timberline members. Half of the Timberline graduates live in-district, with the other half commuting up to serve the community.
Every graduate of the academy is a volunteer. To be eligible for the academy, recruits have to have given one year of time to the department prior to enrollment. Over twenty instructors are involved in teaching the course for the academy.
