Peak to Peak region

Thundersnow is a rare weather phenomenon where warm air mixes with cold moisture to create

unstable conditions inside the clouds resulting in the discharge of lightning and thunder while

snow is falling. The normal summer booming sound is replaced by a low rumble because the

snow muffles the discharge. Thundersnow is usually confined to the clouds and rarely strikes the

earth but should still be considered dangerous for anyone outdoors.
