First January Snow Not A Big One; More Snow On Wednesday
By John McGinley
After a warm Thursday where highs soared into the 50s, we did manage to bring in a bit of cold air over the weekend with a light to moderate snow. Amounts around the area ranged from a couple of inches on the flatlands to 4-5 inches in the foothills. We had a subfreezing day on Sunday with a high of 24F and a low of 7F. A rapid warm-up occurred on Monday and Tuesday as high popped back into the upper 30s and low 40s. Another storm on Wednesday was brought a bit more snow and colder temperatures. More on this next week. The week was unique in that we had no windy days (winds over 40mph)……rare for January.
