Art, from pencils to crayons and chalk to paint brushes, builds many skills that help manage daily life. These skills are good for self-reflection and expression. They are also beneficial for growing and learning to be able to cope with real-life situations.

Art improves mental and emotional health. The arts assist with many skills like motor and cognitive development, which aid in problem-solving, planning, and perception. Imagine the endless benefits when a person begins art at a young age.

To inspire and honor the Peak to Peak region’s young artists, The Mountain-Ear is sponsoring the 2024 Youth Art Contest.

The contest promotes youth art and inspires young readers to engage with their community newspaper. The Mountain-Ear is inviting all students from Kindergarten through 12th grade to participate.

Youth Art Contest categories include fine art, digital art, and photography. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners in each category, with a “People’s Choice” winner.

Online submissions begin March 7, 2024. Only one entry per student will be accepted, so choose wisely. Go to https://www.themtnear.com/youth-art-contest-2024/ for more information and updates. Contact info@themountainear.com for more information.
