Mindy Leary, Nederland. Recreational cannabis users in Nederland now have a castle-themed dispensary where they can buy their cannabis and cannabis products. Upon entering one will see a lavish throne-like chair with a coat of arms on the wall. And what castle would be complete without a suit of armor?

The Kind Castle is a recreational cannabis dispensary that opened its doors on July 10, 2020, and is located on the Peak to Peak Highway 98 CO-119. The store is the second of its kind, the first of which is located in Parachute, CO, which was recognized in 2019 by Leafbuyer for Best of the Best in the US for their dispensary design.

They pride themselves on a unique variety of products and offer daily specials and discounts to locals and medical card holders. The Locals Discount includes Everyday $25 eighths, $50 quarters, 420 joint specials and daily deals. Additional discounts include a 20% discount for veterans and industry professionals. Medical card holders receive a 15% discount. Discounts do not apply to items already on sale and discounts cannot be stacked. They are open Sunday thru Thursday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday/Saturday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.  

I spoke with Jefferson Mathews, the assistant manager, who has worked for the company for two years. They are hoping to expand and open another location in Craig by Steamboat Springs. All menu items are hand-selected from only the finest growers and marijuana-infused products manufacturers throughout the state of Colorado. The Kind Castle team prides itself on working exclusively with grade-A marijuana growers who cultivate their cannabis using only organic soils, along with organic herbicides, pesticides, and/or fungicides.

They offer a variety of products including concentrates like wax, shatter, live resin, water hash and more to satisfy all their customers’ flavor desires. “Bredo’s Bud” is a cannabis strain in homage to the local Frozen Dead Guy, and at $70/half-ounce is quite affordable. “All prices include tax so there are no surprises at the register,” said Mathews.

In response to the virus, Kind Castle has implemented updated practices to help ensure the health and safety of their employees and customers by offering online orders. Payment can be provided during pickup. Orders can also be placed inside with social distancing guidelines observed.
