The Heart of Gilpin County

Dear Editor and Gilpin neighbors,

We are the Friends of Gilpin County Community Center (FGCCC), a group of neighbors focused on reopening our Community Center facilities. Our members are researching creative programming, special grants, fund-raising efforts, and more. We offer citizen feedback to the County regarding the Center and invite you to work with us on these goals in the following ways:

volunteer on one of our special groups;

share feedback with us about the Center;

donate money to help fund our activities.

 Community Center News

The main Community Center building is closed. The outside areas, ball fields, and trail are open. The Barn building is used by GCART and CSU Extension;

Gilpin County Commissioners placed Issue 1B on the ballot to impose a 2.57 mill levy on property taxes for three years to fund the Parks and Recreation Department. If approved, the department can reopen the Center in 2021;

We recommend a “YES” vote on Issue 1B to restore a much-needed County resource;

The County is working on reopening plans to be used if Issue 1B passes.
