Dear Editor,
I have lived in Nederland since 1954 with my miner husband (Mike Smith) and my family of top grade miners. Through the years, I have learned much about the make-up of Nederland and the ground on which it sits.
I wonder if developer Ron Mitchell has taken the time to investigate the earth under his proposed buildings. Has he had a thorough testing of the depth that needs to be reached to build 3-story buildings and the proposed underground garage between Middle Boulder Creek and Caribou Creek. He should hire a professional engineer to test the depth in June during the spring run-off that occurs every year. Is that ground stable enough for such a construction project?
I assume that Nederland Town Council is investigating this thoroughly with reliable professionals. How this project could negatively affect our town is huge.
