Thanks to locals that helped at accident

Dear Editor,

A big shout out and thank you to all of you who helped my husband on September 24 when he was almost hit by a motorcycle and had to do a fast swandive on to the pavement!  This was on Highway 119 at about 11:00 AM.

Many thanks:

To the construction workers who stopped traffic.

To the doctor who stopped at the scene

To the kind guy who gave him some clean cloth to wipe the blood up.

To one of our sweet neighbors who followed him home in her car to be sure he made it home OK.

To the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Dept. for investigating.

It is nice to know there are still caring people out there!

I know some will ask—right cheek, right shoulder, right elbow, both hands, and both knees.  Thank goodness he had on jeans and a long sleeved shirt.  No ambulance needed.  Multiple abrasions. The bruises will fade.  The abrasions and cuts will heal.  No sign of concussion.  No broken bones.  We will have to let the orthopedic surgeon decide about the shoulder.

We are thankful.  It could have been much worse!  I told him his Guardian Angel was definitely on his shoulder and pushed him out of the way!  I may have to request a second Guardian Angel for that boy to keep him out of harm’s way!  We’re way too old for dives like this into the street!

To the scumbag motorcylist, I just have this to say:

Hit and run

Leaving the scene of an accident

Not yielding to a pedestrian

It’s the law, Stupid!  I was going to say that I hope you wrap your motorcycle around a tree, but I’ll just say I am a firm believer in karma.  You’ll get yours sooner or later!

This is a quiet rural mountain community.  We live here because we like the peace and quiet.  You and your ilk show up here in Gilpin County in droves, disregarding posted speed limits, passing illegally, exceeding noise limits, etc.  If you have a shred of decency (which I doubt), you will contact the Gilpin Sheriff.  No good description of the bike and no license number!
