Dear Editor,
I am relieved and happy to hear the passage of the resolution declaring we are in a climate emergency. Thanks to the Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) for presenting this reality to the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Town of Nederland and to the BOT which passed it 5 to 0.
I am hugely concerned about the climate crisis. What got us here and what keeps us in it and what we need to do to alleviate human contributions to it.
We are the ones who have the unfolding life on the planet in our care. I wonder…what responsibilities do I have each day and how do my choices impact the trees, the bees, the fish, the animals and the air? And what might I need to do differently?
Let’s talk in our homes, workplaces and with one another in the mountains about how to respond to this climate emergency locally, statewide and nationally.
Thanks for playing your part.
