Dear Editor,
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to all who responded to my husband’s call for assistance on Monday, August 15. Joe called for help following a rather serious negative encounter with his chainsaw.
We especially appreciate the quick response, expertise and kindness displayed by those in attendance especially Marie Romero, Sheriff’s dispatcher, who calmly spoke with Joe giving him direction and encouragement while summoning help to our location, to Deputy Sheriff Phil Perry who deftly placed a tourniquet on Joe’s leg to try and staunch the bleeding and then cleared the way for the ambulance to get to Lutheran Hospital. To Jennie and Cheryl on the Gilpin County ambulance attending to Joe on the way to Lutheran Hospital emergency center. Also, a thank you to Fire Chief Chris Schurmansky and volunteer John Arendt for helping me keep my feet on the ground and my head clear enough to safely drive down to Lutheran.
You are all professionals in your own right and we are so grateful for your knowledge and dedication.
Sincerely,
Leslie and Joe Duffy
Gilpin County
