Jacqueline Hart Gibson, Gilpin County. Gilpin County resident Alec Baldwin created a plaque for the TFPD as a gift of appreciation for all TFPD does for the community. President Chip Smith presented the plaque to the board last Tuesday evening at the monthly meeting.

The regular board meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. on February 12, 2019, at station 7, on highway 46 in Black Hawk. The pledge of allegiance was followed by a moment of silence for fallen firefighters, EMT’s and others who are of service and may be in harm’s way. All members of the board were in attendance.
After approving the minutes from the previous month, the treasurer’s report was also approved. The only discussion was to clarify a $4300 donation. A car was donated to the department, which was sold. The proceeds from the sale were recorded as a cash donation.
Chief Ondr reported that TFPD responded to 61 calls in January including a call to Golden Gate State Park involving two injured hikers. The hikers were rescued and transported successfully to the hospital.
Training academy, for nine volunteers, will begin February 23, 2019. The mental health class last month successfully covered general behavioral illnesses, substance abuse, suicide prevention, family and child care, as well as resources available to the department.
The TFPD Wildland Division has been busy ordering needed equipment and organizing supplies. A joint project is in the works with Black Hawk Fire Department to work on joint training and planning.
Engine 55 has been repaired and returned home. The stations throughout the county will receive a security and Wi-Fi service update. The Wi-Fi updates will also support enhanced communication in each station.
The deputy chief of volunteer services posting is closed and applications are being reviewed. Timberline also met with the facilitator of the long-range plan for Gilpin County to inquire about long-range planning for Timberline.
Timberline will continue to observe the planning process as it unfolds for Gilpin County to ascertain whether this would be a good avenue for TFPD.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
Next month’s meeting will be held at station #7, on March 19, 2019 at 7 p.m. Members of the community are welcome to attend, and space is made in the schedule every month for public comments and questions.
