Hello Nederland and the Peak to Peak!

This month registered voters in the town of Nederland will have the opportunity to vote on a measure to support childcare in our community. Whether you are a parent of small children, older children, or fur babies, this is our chance to do the right thing and support one of the most fundamental needs of parents and children in our community – which ultimately impacts us all.

While my children are mostly grown, there was a time when our family of two working parents, scrambled to find the care we needed and our solution to the lack of childcare in our community ranged from quitting jobs, to bringing kids to Boulder, to relying rather heavily on friends. And we were lucky to have the support and resources to navigate what was a truly stressful and challenging time.

TEENS, Inc. has risen to our community’s challenges time and time again. Their plan to provide accessible, high-quality childcare for infants, toddlers and preschoolers here in Nederland, is nothing short of a miracle. Nederland’s elected officials agree and voted to unanimously support this project and approve the public/private partnership that makes projects for the common good possible.

Your ballot has likely arrived in the mail. It must be returned by July 30th, 2024. Please vote yes on TEENS, Inc’s proposal to develop and operate a childcare center that will meet the needs of our community’s children. By providing childcare close to home, our families, our businesses and our community will thrive.
