Dear Editor,
It’s always great to read how Gilpin County has some of the lowest taxes. That is, low taxes for 2/3 of Gilpin County.
Those of us that live in North Gilpin get robbed every year at tax time by Boulder County and their outrageous Boulder County school tax. For those of you who don’t know, North Gilpin residents get to pay around a 48-mil tax so Boulder County can build new schools, in Erie and elsewhere. Who cares about Erie? I would be more than willing to pay higher Gilpin taxes and support OUR school.
The biggest problem is – we don’t have and never have had, since the Gilpin school was built, a commissioner or school board member, or ANYONE, with the brains or intestinal fortitude, or cares enough about the north Gilpin residents to get this change made.
When you vote for a third district commissioner, find out if they represent US!
Enough sorry excuses, represent and work for US! I can’t be the only one who feels this way.
