Dear Editor,

It is hard to believe but the holidays are just around the corner. The Gilpin county Food Pantry is preparing to be sure everyone in our county gets to enjoy a tasty holiday meal. And you can help!

The food pantry will be having a drive thru food drive on November 13, 2022. It is quick and easy to help a neighbor enjoy the happiness of a good holiday meal.

Here is how it works. You bring your donation to the food pantry at 101 Norton Dr. (across from the community center) between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and then a friendly volunteer will unload your donation and away you go.

Helping folks have a happy holiday is a great way to get in the holiday spirit. Whether you donate a little, or a lot, know that every thing is needed and appreciated.

Here are some of the non-perishable items we can use; green beans and corn, stuffing mix and veggie or chicken broth, cranberry sauce, olives, pickles, instant potatoes, yams and jello, mushroom soup and dried onions for everybody’s favorite green bean casserole. Or maybe add your favorite Thanksgiving treat.

In the December’s holiday boxes we like to include pancake mix, syrup, muffin mix and fruit.

If you have an organization or a group that may give a larger donation of perishable food (fresh fruit or vegetables), please contact Roxy at 303-912-7492 for delivery closer to the holiday. We will also be collecting perishable items in December which also include breakfast meat and eggs. Again, please contact Roxy at 303- 912-7492 with any questions.

Remember the date:
